After 18 months without a live production Dronfield Musical Theatre Group is back in action with a major production of Fiddler on the Roof, a show which has been described as “one of the most glowing creations in the history of musical theatre.”
It is so good we are now able to bring to Dronfield a truly remarkable musical and we hope our audiences will be looking forward to seeing live theatre back in town.
Fiddler on the Roof is set at the turn of the last century when communities were being displaced in Imperial Russia. It remains a prime example of how musicals with universally relevant themes can elicit timeless appeal.
Fiddler is multi-award winning and record-breaking show and for Dronfield Musical Theatre Group the directors are Paul and Janet Black
Playing the role of dairyman Tevye (made famous on stage and film by Chaim Chaim Topol and Zero Mostel) is Alisdair Adams, last seen with DMTG in The Bakewell Bake-Off, and the three troublesome daughters, who want to marry for love rather than tradition, are in the hands of Louise Humpage, Beth Black and Ellie Ashmore.
With a cast of more than 40 and full orchestra, the show has many well-known songs including Sunrise Sunset, Traditions, and Matchmaker Matchmaker.
Fiddler on the Roof is set to be a landmark comeback production which will run from Wednesday to Saturday October 13 to 16 including a Saturday matinee. All tickets are £10 and available on 0751 985 2244 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
